It was officially confirmed that MyTeam progress on current-gen will transfer to next-gen. So, if you start playing on your current-gen console and later this year you buy a next-gen console, all of your cards, progress, and everything you’ve obtained in MyTeam so far will be waiting for you when you load up the game on your new console. If you are wondering if this works cross-platform, the answer is no. It only works with consoles of the same brand. However, this is not a big issue because players normally remain faithful to one console brand. The transfer will work from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox One to Xbox Series X. It also works backwards. This means that your progress can transfer from PlayStation 5 to PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series X to Xbox One. As you can imagine, you also need to use the same game account on both of your consoles. You can easily go back from playing on current-gen to next-gen and the other way around. All of your earned cards will be in your collection no matter on which console you play after September 4th when the game releases. All the evolution progress of your cards will transfer as well. Your accumulated currencies carry over too. This includes NBA 2K21 MT coins and tokens. The progress you have achieved in MyTeam modes such as Triple Threat and Domination also transfers. Basically, you don’t need to worry about losing your progress, cards, or money when you switch consoles. The transfer is done automatically. You don’t have to do anything, just sit back and enjoy the game. Also, don’t forget about the dual entitlement offer. If you purchase the special NBA 2K21 edition called Mamba Forever for current-gen consoles, you get a free copy of the standard version of the game on next-gen. This also works with consoles of the same brand. You cannot buy NBA 2K21 Mamba Forever on PlayStation 4 and receive a free standard game copy on Xbox Series X.
